Four to one, water to sugar. At that dilution, they come back frequently.

I'd bleach this lousy dye job white but I'd scare the kids.

I've seen a couple of flying squirrels in my back yard lately, around dusk. Cute little things, but they look more like chipmunks (sizewise) than squirrels.

I saw the only one I've seen this year about a week ago.

Sometimes I see a Hummingbird Clearwing

I try to grow a diversity of plants in the yard, which attracts a diversity of bugs.

I saw a silver Maserati parked at Roffler Hair Salon. Wish I'd checked closer to see model type. I caught myself audibly going humph, thinking how similar it appeared to Cameros and Firebirds...

I have no problem with normal chilled-out dogs on the bike path, but if your big German Shepard apparently HATES people on bikes then maybe it's not the best place for a dog walk.

Just through out a bottle of V8 that was taking up space in the fridge. Best if used by Dec 23 2007.

As God is my witness I could've sworn it was 2 years old max.

Hey Lady! Yeah, you on the bus. That seat next to you is not for your bag. This bus is crowded. The seats are for passengers.

Hey Lady! Yeah, you on the three seater bench. Those two seats on either side of you are not for your little bags. They are for people.

Hey Guy! You don't like the window seat? Sit next to someone already seated by a window. Make that seat available for a person, not dead air!

So - I was at Olbrich Gardens this Sunday, just whiling away my carefree hours. I was checking out the happy pond in a fruitless quest for turtles, when I noticed something swimming around in the algae-bedimmed waters.

I was intrigued, since I'm pretty sure there are no fish in the pond (happy though it may be). So I looked closer.

Sure enough; not fish - tadpoles.

Lots and lots of tadpoles.

So - any green heron who might be reading this, add the happy pond at Olbrich Gardens to your fine dining list.

Sitting on the back deck wearing a red sweatshirt - hummingbird zoomed in to check out the shirt. They are attracted to red which is why most feeders have some red on them somewhere. Ruby-throated are the only species to come this far north. All the others are tropical & subtropical. Males have the red throat feathers and females don't - how you tell 'em apart.

I have about zero interest in the Amanda Knox case per se, but actually am somewhat fascinated by how different the comments are on http://news.yahoo.com and http://uk.news.yahoo.com.

When the victim is of nationality A and the suspect is of nationality B, people's opinions about the quality of the evidence and the likelihood of guilt appear to be very strongly influenced by whether their own nationality is A or B.

That is strange.

If you want Mr. Green Heron himself, he can sometimes be found fishing from the shore of Starkweather Creek just below the bike bridge.

I saw him there just the other day from the bridge that crosses over to the Thai Pavillion.

Also seen from the same bridge, turtles swimming around in Starkweather Creek.

I really, really dig turtles.
