Meade, I am sorry you can't handle the truth. That is probably why your mommy demands political conformity on her blog.

So you disagree with what he says?

Hate to interrupt the Meade thing (yeah right) but

we're shifting our resources to more reporting, news writing and arts/entertainment coverage on the site

is a fine idea. Madison could always use more reporting and news writing and Isthmus generally does a decent job. I've been impressed with Joe Tarr's work in particular though you've published a number of good writers.

I make a H-U-G-E second on this suggestion to Isthmus. Don't bring in another nut case extremist tea party panderer. Bring in a rational voice of the conservative party. They are out there. They are hidden by all the flashy-tour-bus-across-America-red-white-and-blue-BS artists cashing in on the lecture/lobbiest cash cow. I want to read all THOUGHTFUL points of view--progressive, conservative, green, libertarian, the 99%. When you bring in someone of lower caliber (like a shock jock), it lowers YOUR credibility as well.

I think Madison is smart enough to handle a wide range of views and let the readers sort the info out for themselves. Heck, that's part of the fun!

Phil, I'm new here but have been reading Althouse for years. Your claim that she demands political conformity on her blog is ridiculous. You need to get out more.

Sorry to hear about that, Dave Blaska brought class to a now classless rag. The liberal echo chamber couldn't handle one voice that was out of synch with the rest of them. But doesn't that really say more about the left and the Isthmus?

What's preventing your voice from being posted here, Thor? Seems you have open license to type what you wish with neither prior restraint nor restrictions on topic.

As for conservative thought, it existed on the pages of Isthmus LONG before David Blaska started contributing and continues to exist now that he's gone. In fact, he's been asked to contribute to the paper. Read Larry Kaufman's take on Occupy Wall Street this week (http://www.thedailypage.com/isthmus/art ... icle=35453).

The question you should be asking yourself is whether the right-wing outlets you rely on for your own nurturing invite ANY dissenting voices. At all. Ever.

OK, so it's not Blaska but Brasky. Close enough?

Rickert nails it:

But for the paltry sum he was making — $30 a week, regardless of how often he posted — it probably would have been wiser to keep him. It would have allowed Isthmus a bigger fig leaf to trot out in response to complaints of bias and given its readers a predictable foil to reassure themselves of their own righteousness.

Rickert fails to mention Larry Kaufman's contribution this very week and buys into the victimization tale that area conservatives like to spin. As a columnist, his thumb is twice as big as it ought to be due to his propensity for failing to "nail it."
