I clicked on Citizen Dave

A symptom of Blaska withdrawal? Perhaps.

But it was a surprise to me that Dave C. is a voice of reason in the Madison Prep debate.

He got it right.

BTW, this point about being "right" on the details of a thing whilst missing the big picture reminds me of Austin King's stand on the "Patty" case:

That guy had a pair of brass balls. There are not many like him.

Strange is this may sound coming out of my mouth (in that I agree with Cheesewiz on anything) I do to. They should make this work somehow.

And...back to the whiner we all know so well:

From Dave Cieslewicz on 12/22/11 at 4:32 pm

The opposition to the Edgewater was all about an eccentric millionaire who didn't want the view from his mansion obstructed. Phil never understood his own opposition and I never understood how he could be against all those jobs. A simple apology to the unemployed workers would be sufficient, Phil.

Not just whining, but condescending and insulting as well.

It's really sad that he's still regurgitating the same talking point, like some kind of dutiful Republican apparatchik. Player Dave is the the single party most responsible for sinking the Edgewater project.

Ishmael soon learns that Ahab has one purpose on this voyage: to seek out a specific whale--Moby Dick, a ferocious, enigmatic white sperm whale. In a previous encounter, the whale destroyed Ahab's boat and bit off his leg, which now drives Ahab to take revenge.

Right! And he's totally oversimplified the opposition.

It wasn't just a foot-stomping, save-the-view-from-my-house millionaire who fanned the flames. It was the batophobics, freaking out about the tower's imagined impact on a neighborhood they spend little time in, if any.

Thanks, jerks, for making it much more likely that I'll have the current shitbox Edgewater as a neighbor until it finally crumbles into dust.

Batophobics?

You lost me here. However I did try googling it and learned barophobia is the fear of gravity, which is an interesting thought. Ten points to the next person who can work it into a forum posting.

I truly hope they fix up the old Edgewater tower and the pier so you and other people in the neighborhood can enjoy them. That's a far better and more economical improvement than Dunn's zillion-dollar boondoggle.

What about making a new bar/terrace on top of the 70s addition? There's another space waiting for somebody to get creative, and it shouldn't cost a mint or take TIF funding.

I am coming around to the opinion it's the little things (like those) that really make a city liveable, not necessarily the grandiose, mammoth projects we spend so much time arguing about. Most if not all of those are monuments to somebody's ego more than anything else.

It seems Isthmus fired the wrong Dave.

More importantly, the citizens of Madison fired the right Dave.
