Billionaires pay no state tax

Postby Henry Vilas » Sun Jun 24, 2012 7:47 am

2 Wisconsin billionaires pay no state income tax in 2010
Here's one way to avoid paying state income tax every now and then: Become a billionaire.

It worked for Helen Johnson-Leipold and Diane Hendricks, two of the richest women in the state, both of whom paid zero state income tax in 2010. Johnson-Leipold actually went two consecutive years - 2009 and 2010 - without paying a nickel in state income tax...

Only the little people pay Wisconsin income tax. Divide and conquer indeed.

Henry, how can you justify being critical of Walker for tax law in years before he was governor? How about blaming Doyle and the Democrats for tax law in 2010? They were the ones in power at that time. Divide and conquer my ass. Walker had nothing to do with that.

I didn't see one word about Walker in the post or the accompanying link. Is he somehow associated in your mind with the rich not paying taxes?

Yes "divide and conquer" is clearly a reference to Jim Doyle.

But I think "divide, conquer and generally be an unlikeable asshole" would have made it even clearer.

bdog has an intelligence comment but unfortunately, Mr. Henry, you, sir, do not have security clearance.

You do, however, seem to suffer from irregularity.

That's disgusting. People with so much wealth fighting to pay taxes to support our government. And for those of you who don't realize it, the government supports our infrastructure--roads, bridges, water safety etc. Where I can clearly see a cut is that maybe our Legislature makes too much money for part time work but that is a topic for another thread. So if the billionaires aren't paying that means WE have to make up their difference. So you see the billionaires buy politicians to protect their wealth. I have nothing against people making a lot of money--wish I could be one too--but these loop holes need to be closed. The people who can MOST afford to support our way of life don't contribute? Pathetic.

So Lily, you don't think rich people should be able to deduct investment losses from what they owe in income tax? Fair enough.

Just the billionaires? Down to the millionaires? Anyone making over $100,000?

What if their losing investments went to things like green energy? Still no deduction for losses?
