A Closet by Another Name
This guy gently chastises Cooper for not coming out sooner.
I can sympathize with people who don't want to come out of closet, that is a privacy choice, an internal personal struggle that nobody else should intrude on.
But with public figures who are actually out of the closet in their personal lives, for them to not be forthcoming with public about who they are, that's just about business, a.k.a. money. Civil rights fighters get beaten or shot in the struggle, the beneficiaries ought to at least have the courage to risk a little market share.
I've had plenty of moments in my own life when I have not shown courage, we all have our weak spots. I mostly thought AC's reluctance was humorous, given his impeccable grooming, flattering casual wear in the field (a comedian at White Correspondants dinner quipped you could tell how bad a natural disaster was by the tightness of Anderson's tee shirt) and other stereotype non-breakers.
