States Rights? Right.

If it's news, but not politics, then it goes here.

The Surgeon General has the answer for that:

Among the known or suspected chronic effects of marijuana are:

short-term memory impairment and slowness of learning.

impaired lung function similar to that found in cigarette smokers. Indications are that more serious effects, such as cancer and other lung disease, follow extended use.

decreased sperm count and sperm motility.

interference with ovulation and pre-natal development.

impaired immune response.

possible adverse effects on heart function.

by-products of marijuana remaining in body fat for several weeks, with unknown consequences. The storage of these by-products increases the possiblilties for chronic, as well as residual, effects on performance, even after the acute reaction to the drug has worn off. Of special concern are the long-term developmental effects in children and adolescents, who are particularly vulnerable to the drug's behavioral and psychological effects. The "amotivational syndrome," characterized by a pattern of energy loss, diminished school performance, harmed parental relationships, and other behavorial disruptions, has been associated with prolonged marijuana use by young persons.

Go ahead, list all the ways pot is bad, from every source you can find. it still won't be more dangerous than beer or peanuts.

And, because your reading comprehension is so, so poor, I'll explain this to you as plainly as possible: I am not pissed off at republicans because Obama is busting pot dealers. I am amused at the transparency of the Republicans blatant hypocrisy regarding states rights.

Fine. You convinced me.

Obama is wrong and therefore I won't be voting for him.

Now who else is with me?

Huh. I wonder why they don't list which ones are known and which are "suspected."

And why won't they let any scientists do any studies?

By "they" you mean the President?

Or are you talking about the super-secret organization that meets in Bohemian Grove in order to plot how they are going to rule the world?

[reads Meade's latest post] Yep, you too.

I hear medical weed cures myopia. True? What's the best way to digest it? Spliff or brownies?

Is it safe to assume that all you liberals who are whining about Obama arresting druggies are still going to vote for him?

It looks like wack-wack is more upset with the Republicans than he is with Dear Leader.

PB quoted the CDC on the health risk of marijuana. How do that compare to the CDC reports on the health risks of alcohol and tobacco?

Weed helps philosophical myopia, but does nothing for physical myopia.

Not quite yet. But I think I'm getting there.
Peanutbutter wrote:The opening post was about weed.

Not exactly, it involved several other issues. You focused on one. I got that.

And then you followed up with
Peanutbutter wrote:Having seen first hand how dangerous and addictive these illegal drugs are....

Later, you referred to
Peanutbutter wrote:drugs like pot not alcohol and tobacco.

Which led to my still unanswered question:
jman111 wrote:PB, could you clarify what other substances are "drugs like pot", if not alcohol and tobacco?
Thanks.

Maybe Henry is right. Perhaps tobacco and booze should be more regulated. But that isn't the topic of this thread. This thread is about how Obama is doing something that liberals think is terribly wrong.

Are you going to vote for someone who is doing something terribly wrong?

I know this will be difficult, but try to comprehend this:

Most liberals are not single-issue voters.

Only if you believe that liberals are single issue voters, like many conservatives. For example, the guy who supported Walker because he believed he would reverse the smoking ban. You know that fool, don't you?
