Disputed survey shows estimated April job loss of 6,200

At a time when Wisconsin's jobs statistics are under scrutiny as never before, preliminary data released Thursday showed that Wisconsin lost an estimated 6,200 private-sector jobs in April.

This is the second consecutive month of private-sector job losses in the state, according to the report from the state Department of Workforce Development.

Walker claimed the tax cuts for wealthy businesses would create lots of new jobs in Wisconsin. Welll that didn't happen. Instead... Walker tax cuts for wealthy will cost other taxpayers.

...those tax breaks and other credits will cost a Wisconsin family of four $235 beginning July 1, 2012, and grow to $291 annually by 2021.

Meanwhile, groups benefiting from the new policies contributed $23.6 million in campaign contributions to various legislators, mostly to Walker and other Republicans, from 2009 through 2011.

Barrett on CNN: Walker should have kept focus on jobs

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said Sunday that Republican Gov. Scott Walker could have avoided being forced into a recall election if he had focused on creating jobs, as he had promised, instead of trying to destroy his political opponents.

Oh this is just classic:

"You got all this attention. My sense is, why not use it? Not for me as much as why not get out and tell the story about Wisconsin and maybe attract some companies to come and grow here?" Walker said in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Bwahahaa. Because over a year ago with all the protests, we weren't getting any attention. I'd also like to know "the story about Wisconsin"

Plus the latest DWD figures show that while Wisconsin added a small number of jobs in May, unemployment also rose slightly. It seems we couldn't be trusted to evaluate this information until after the recall election.

You really expected that information to be tabulated in two business days?

I expected it would be made available because the DWD said it was available, but that they had been asked not to make it "available"...hmmmmm......

Link please? All I can find about withholding numbers had to do with data prior to the end of May, and that was on the Wisconsin Citizens Media Coop, which I wouldn't consider the most trustworthy source for news about Walker after their mind-blowingly stupid piece about his illegitimate child. Releasing unemployment numbers and job gain numbers for the prior month around midway through the next month sounds pretty normal.

And unemployment ticked up to 7%.

What will the new excuse be now that the protests and recalls are over? The SCOTUS opinion on the Affordable Care Act?

Uncertainty.

Maybe SCOTUS, but it will definitely be someone else's fault.

The weather. Everybody complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it... until now! Instead of "Jobs, jobs, jobs!" expect the GOP campaign refrain for 2012 to be "Rain, rain, rain!" And they'll deliver, too! Just like Governor Walker...
