LWV Primary Voters Guide out online this week...

Postby Bob Koch » Mon Jul 30, 2012 9:53 am

Just an FYI....

August 14th Primary Voters’ Guide Available

The League of Women Voters of Dane County Candidates’ Answers for the August 14th Primary will be available August 1st
on its website www.lwvdanecounty.org. Candidates’ Answers is an independent and nonpartisan voters’ guide which features responses by the candidates themselves. The Dane County League sends questionnaires to all candidates. Answers are printed exactly as received without editing by the League.

The crowded primary ballots include United States Senate, the Second Congressional seat, State Senate seats in District 14, 16, and 26, State Assembly seats in 13 districts, andpositions in Dane County: District Attorney, Clerk, Register of Deeds, and Treasurer. The overall response rate was 69% from all candidates. Republican candidates sent 4 answers for 19 positions (21%) and Democratic candidates sent 34 answers for 36 positions. The response rate for Dane County
positions was 100%.

LWVDC Voter Services Chair Gail Bliss stated “This is a service the League provides so that citizens can make informed decisions when they vote. The on-line version of Candidates Answers is a cost effective way of providing information about candidates for the primary." State Senate and Assembly boundaries have changed since redistricting. Voters may not have moved but their polling place might have been changed since the last election. The website can help people find out where they should vote and which candidates will be on their ballot with links to the Voters Public Access site, Dane County Clerk, and City of Madison Clerk, and all municipal clerks in the county.

The League of Women Voters is an organization of women and men that is nonpartisan, community based, and organized at the local, state, and national levels. In Dane County, the League registers voters, publishes Candidates Answers, provides information on voting, moderates candidate forums, holds public informational meetings, and develops positions based on the study of the issues. For more information, contact the Dane County League at (608)232-9447.

Thanks for the tip. As usual, the corporate-welfare Repubs gave few answers to the questions.
