Worst possible song to get stuck in your head

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it fits here

Worst possible song to get stuck in your head

Postby bdog » Tue Aug 07, 2012 6:44 am

The Safety Dance, Men Without Hats.

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't dance
And if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine.

Best possible song to get stuck in you head because it can be used to drive out worst possible song and then it fades away on its own:
5D (Fifth Dimension) by the Byrds.

And I opened my heart to the whole universe,
And I found it was loving,
And I saw the great blunder my teachers had made,
Scientific delirium madness.

I will keep falling as long as I live,
Ah, without ending,
And I will remember the place that is now,
That has ended before the beginning ...

Try it some time.

"I played chicken with a train" by Cowboy Troy. I'd never heard that song until my bike class instructor played it during class and I couldn't get that song out of my head for WEEKS. Then when I finally succeeded, it snuck in again when I saw a clip of Donald Driver dancing to it on Dancing with the Stars. Damn you, Cowboy Troy!

Oh, and this one:

There are many choices, but it occurs to me that any "lyrics" by Art Paul Schlosser would be at the top of my list.

Anything by LMFAO is the worst. Repetative and annoying. Especially the one that was in the Commercial with the dancing robots... eeeuugh.

Just think about Daft Punk 'Harder Better Faster Stronger' and most songs will float out of your head quickly. Unless that is one of the songs you hate having stuck in your head...

"Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long," Just that line; over and over and over. But at least it was Tom Cochran and not the Rascal Flatts version.

I keep getting inane Wings songs stuck in my head. Most recently it was "I'm Getting Closer." Help!

I'm sleeping and right in the middle of a good dream
Like all at once I wake up from something that keeps
Knocking at my brain
Before I go insane I hold my pillow to my head
And spring up in my bed screaming out the words I dread

I think I love you
(I think I love you)

The rests in the vocal and how the words run together in places creates a paranoid feeling. A diabolical piece of songwriting turns love into insanity.

That song they play before showing any gymnastics events at the Olympics has been in my head for the duration of the games. It's by a guy named Phillip Phillips, which is such a dumbass name that it makes me hate the song even more.

Really? I think it's lovely. But anything can suffer from overexposure. The tune is an "American Idol" thing, I gather.

Possibly charming at first, killing me after so many reps, particularly when it accompanies Aly doing that weird pose from her floor routine or Gabby staring into the lens.

Eric Heiden didn't need no American Idol theme song!

If only a single line qualifies, I nominate Gregg Allmann's immortal classic, "Come and let me show you my tattoo".

But we've been through this before.
There is no doubt in mind that this is the song most likely to earworm its way into your sanity.

The tune you link to is testament to the Sherman brothers' genius. I'd love to write a song that drives millions insane.

They also wrote this. Oh yes.
