Sconnie on the ticket

Postby jjoyce » Tue Aug 14, 2012 3:21 pm

1. I don't buy into this idea that the Ryan pick made Wisconsin a "battleground" state, or whatever. It was that before, due to the Obama win here in '08 vs. what has happened with Walker.

2. I also don't buy this stuff about how Wisconsin is in the news for the "wrong" reason with the Ryan announcement. How do you figure? Unlike some (I'm looking at you, Tommy G. Thompson) he doesn't speak like he has a towel for a tongue.

3. I don't think the state's going to get anything big, economically, out of this. Sure, some hotel rooms are occupied in Janesville for the next few weeks, but it's not like a wave of tourists are going to come through. Unlike his predecessor, I don't see Ryan turning his bid into a reality show industry.

It works the other way in Wisconsin. See Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI).

1. Agreed, WI is not crucial for either party.
2. I think it makes WI looks bad. Combined with Walker people are starting to think WI is a right-wing nut job state. See this week's Isthmus cartoon Off the Square pg 6.
3. Agreed.

Not necessarily a right-wing nut-job state. More like "stupid."

Pains me to say this, but tomorrow PPP will release a poll showing His Mittness slightly in lead in Wisconsin. I assume this due to Ryan on ticket.

Like fingernails on a chalkboard, it ranks right up there with Frisco and Beantown.
