No allowances given for any extenuating circumstances. Straight from GOP.com. Good enough?

Please, point out that language.

Ned, this is going to be really hard if you don't actually read any words. Even harder is pointing out language that doesn't exist. How about you read this and tell me where you see room for a rape/incest exception?

Akin did not misspeak, he said what he meant.

One of the angles of attack by the anti-abortion movement is to weaken the acceptance of abortion in the case of rape.

Paul Ryan introduced an amendment, having to do with federal funding of abortions in case of rape or some such thing, he used language forcible rape. He later had to retract the forcible part, but I expect voters will be reminded of that incident.

Oh this is just precious:

Rep. Paul Ryan called fellow congressman and Missouri Senate Todd Akin on Monday afternoon amid growing calls for the candidate to bow out following his controversial comments on rape, a source with knowledge of the call confirmed to POLITICO.

So basically Ryan is chastising Akin for holding the same position that Ryan himself holds. Oh wait, that's not quite it:

But he echoed the comments Mitt Romney made condemning the comments, as well as those from Senate officials who have said Akin needs to think about the impact of his remarks on the party and other candidates, the source said.

Ahh here we go; Ryan's upset that Akin actually uttered the position on abortion that they both hold, and during an election year no less.

Or are they just concentrating on the whole "rape can't impregnate you" nonsense?

Yep... not "I'm sorry," but "I'm sorry I said that."

Didn't Akin get the memo to only talk about jobs and the economy, not what you really want to do? Maybe Walker should give him a call.

This isn't the first time Akin has uttered extremist comments:
Last year on Family Research Council President Tony Perkins' radio show, Akin said, "The heart of liberalism really is a hatred for God."

How about this:
Faithful to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence, we assert the inherent dignity and sanctity of all human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.

The assignment for your next quibble, Ned, is to explain how an exception for rape or incest would not "infringe" on the fundamental right to life of the unborn child.

AKIN: You know, Dr. Willke has just released a statement and part of his letter, I think he just stated it very clearly. He said, of course Akin never used the word legitimate to refer to the rapist, but to false claims like those made in Roe v. Wade and I think that simplifies it….. There isn’t any legitimate rapist…. [I was] making the point that there were people who use false claims, like those that basically created Roe v. Wade.

AAHHHHHHHHHHH. SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. I don't know why I am so dumbfounded that people like this could actually get elected to our legislature. Fucking nut jobs.

Well worth the read:

http://jezebel.com/5936160/the-official ... imate-rape

I could really give a shit if these are some sort of isolated instances.
I don't want any stupid false equivalencies about what other politicians have said about other issues either. These are elected officials and the subject is rape.

The thing that really annoys me is that this thing's gotten so out of hand that nobody's ever going to ask him which doctors he talked to that told him a woman's reproductive system shuts down during a rape.

I mean, he said "doctors." Plural. He must remember one or two names.

Maybe they'll come forward. Or maybe I missed it. Did he say which doctors he talked to?

Today the Republican Platform Committee passed a platform desiring to make abortion illegal in the case of rape. The Democrats now refer to this as "the Akin plank."

Todd Atkin, Paul Ryan, and now the platform. We got the hat trick.

and in 2007 presidential candidate Mitt Romney sought and won the endorsement of the man who has since the mid-1980s promoted the scientifically baseless idea that rape doesn't lead to pregnancy, Dr. John C. Willke.
