That's me. If you looked out to the south and east following the coastline, you would have seen my house about 5 miles across the water.

Thanks for the kind words about Fajardo. Now you know why I am "hiding out" here.

So again, why does Privatlee think you are in Dubuque, IA?

I don't know if we were looking at the same poll but I went back and looked at the one I mentioned and find that I read it backwards. Obama is up by about 11 over Romney in Cook County.

Up by only 11? In Cook County? that still does not sound good though nowhere near as dire as other way round.

I did not see the actual poll, just an article about it. The poll was by McKeon (I think).

So:

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa

Up by only 11?

Oh, that is just so fucking precious.

Good catch. I didn't even realize you could do that with Privatlee.

I forget why I picked Dubuque and not some other city. The reason it is not Fajardo is that Privatlee allows you to specify your location rather than taking it from the IP address.

I find Google and it's desire to know where I am creepy and none of its business. That is one of the reasons why I never use it. I don't see any particular harm to it, I just find it creepy.

If I need a location based search, it is easy enough to do without them automatically knowing where I am.

49/37 which is, technically "about 11", as I said.

But you are right. Obama is up by 12 whole points in his home town. Which he carried by 35 points in 2008 against McCain.

I should have refreshed my memory before typing.

As I said, it is a single, fairly small, poll and may or may not mean anything. We will need to see it confirmed or refuted in coming weeks.

Nuff said.

How does one "read" Drudge?

There is nothing there to read. You might think of taking a look to see what it is before making such statements.

It is merely a collection of headlines and links to media sources. Occasionally, though not that often, to blogs.

Occasionally Drudge will write a couple sentences behind his main headline but I doubt he even does that more than once or twice a month.

The other thing he has is links to news sources like AP, Pravda, Xinua and 150 or so columnists in media outlets.

Some of them are real extreme right wing nutjob sites like Daily Kos.

I've been visiting Drudge since its inception. "Reading" it? Not hardly.

Once again, the subtle, "woe is us" comes out. Only 11? Uh-oh, we're all doomed.

What do you know about Cook County, John Henry? I grew up in Cook County, my entire family is still there. Friends are still there. The company I work for is based there, so I am there several times per month. I'm not an expert, but I have experience, I think I understand the area, and I'm confident Obama has very little to worry about in Cook County.

Rich.

Coming from an Obamabot who thinks Obama grew up in Kansas.

Which years was it, PJ, that he lived there? I seem to have forgotten.

As for socialism, National, Marxist or other flavors, you seem rather dim on what it is and is not. I'll be happy to discuss it with you til the cows come home but perhaps we should do it in another thread.

And aren't you the one who thought that McCarthy was on the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities? Or am I confusing you with someone else?

So you thinking I don't know what McCarty did or German National Socialism was is not exactly a mortal blow to my heart.

pjbogart wrote:Oh, and Mr. Henry, "Newsweek" is not a person and therefore cannot "think" anything.

True, but they are an organization and do have an organizational culture, both explicit and implicit. They do have an editorial policy and decide what they will or will not publish. I doubt that Ferguson wrote the article on spec then tried to peddle it. They hired him to write the article. That cover didn't happen by accident.

John Henry

Naill Ferguson is a person and he wrote an article that the Newsweek editorial board decided to use as their cover. They probably knew it would sell well because both liberals and conservatives would want to read it.[/quote]

Yeah, that's one thing I've noticed about you, johnfajardohenry, you're very tight-lipped about your location. I mean, without extensive research, none of us would have ever learned that you're in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.

So DKos is extreme right wing? Oh please, enlighten us on your observations. You seem to live in your own world of ideology and make stuff up as you go along.

Of course not. I was making a little joke.

It is a progressive/leftwing fever swamp. Generally unreadable because poorly organized but I do occasionally find a nugget there.

So where do you get your news and information, Stebben?
