Our friends the non-voters

Races for the Senate, U.S. House, etc. and other issues of national importance.

Our friends the non-voters

I've always heard that non-voters tend to be distributed very close to the way elections break, so their non-participation doesn't matter much.

This time, the non-voters overwhelmingly favor Obama

I wish more people voted, but I do understand the point of view that people who don't care deserve whatever they get.

So Repubs are succeeding with their voter suppression of Obama supporters.

I think only a small part is voter suppression, although that can be significant in close elections. I think mostly we see effects of apathy and/or despair.

I don't have stats handy, but hispanics in Texas vote at pathetic levels. (Ironic that the justification for photo ID there is stopping illegal hispanics from voting, when the citizen hispanics aren't voting. I hardly think illegals are inclined to risk felonies and deportation.) Why would this be? I think in that right-wing environment, hispanics think voting doesn't matter.

Rick Perry and Texas Repubicans are *desperate* to block medicaid expansion to their state because they don't want poor people to see that government can actually work for their interests, and therefore voting matters.

Dilemma
[dih-lem-uh]
(noun)
a situation requiring choice between undesirable alternatives

Jumping into the rapids may be no fun, but it just may offer a better choice of survival than staying on the bank and being eaten by the bear.
