Hey, remember Scott Walker?

Please limit discussion in this area to local and state politics.

Of course. It's much more complex than that. There are endowments, alumni donations, profit-earning patents, etc. Theoretically, Professor HawkHead is not only a popular instructor who even draws high-tuition-paying students from out-of-state (including from foreign countries), but he keeps a highly popular blog - say, the most widely-read blog in the state of Wisconsin. Well-educated alumni of his school who are now wealthy millionaires read and appreciate daily the way he represents the high standards of scholarship and the independent critical thinking promoted at their alma mater. They like the way he is not a communist or a socialist or an anti-American. In fact, oddly enough, many of them even appreciate the fact that he voted for Barack Obama.

So they write checks to the Wisconsin School of Business at the UW just to show their appreciation.

It's really quite a racket, huh?

Universities offer classes that nobody actually enroll in? How exactly does that work?

You got me there, lucpac. Got me good.

Okay, edit to where one student (who just happens to be named Lucky -- Lucky Lucpac) registers for Professer Creepy Guy's class. So the dean cancels the class.

Title that chapter - "Lucky Lucpac Dodges a Bullet". And by bullet I mean a pink vibrator.

The only racket I see is the one involving you and your wife sucking off the titties of the state taxpayers.

Do you or do you not derive income in your household from the State of Wisconsin? It's that simple.

Email me. We'll meet up at the Rotunda. You bring copies of your last 10 years of tax returns and I'll bring copies of mine. We'll compare and contrast. If I owe you money, I'll write you a check. If you owe me money, you write me a check. Deal?

But really, Mr. Lingyu, every household that receives income from the State of Wisconsin is "sucking off the titties of the state taxpayers"? Man, if that is true, that's 70% of the people who live in Madison! No wonder they all went apeshit when Walker took away their corrupt collective bargaining/Democrat Party collusion deal.

Who is "lucpac"? And why do you keep mentioning them?

Boy oh boy I have sinned for returning the first volley on this one. I need to adhere to the masters advice.

I'm pretty sure I have violated most, if not all, of the above. The weird thing is the swarm of interesting comments that followed a most uninteresting thread opener. I must give a reluctant tip of the hat to the meadster. Although, the kryptonite remains untouched.

Not at all a sin. Keep responding to remind him that he lives off taxpayer money. That's an inconvenient truth in Tea-tardville.

In Meade's world, government employment is like a perpetual motion machine. Like magic, money that flows into his household from taxpayers somehow makes him what he calls a "net contributor" to the economy. Try to sell that idea to your fellow Republicans, Mr. Meade.

Ling,
I do get what you are talking about. Google our friend Ron John with one of the Koch twins in Tampa. It is kind of a punch to the gut as these guys put the knee jerk pointing to "liberal" think tanks and major donors in a very different light.

Sa la vie?

Some government employees give more than they take and some don't. It's as simple as that.

Lingyu believes in teachers' unions. I believe in teachers.

F#€k dude? Is this what you are hung up on?! Look round, it might make you dizzy, but we are indeed screwed unless we collectively put our heads together.

Just thinking,

Try doing less collective head-putting-together and a little more getting your own individual head together, MH. For one thing, you'll be more useful to the collective.

Keep talk'n white trash.

(had to add this) P.S.- it seems you have a single minded dedication to your collective ( or benefactor). I really appreciate the contributions to NOVA, so I guess I can understand your blind obligation that some how benefits the people?

Is it?

Are K-12 teachers moochers because they don't directly bring in money to school districts? Police officers? Any number of other public servants that don't directly bring in revenue?

Truth be told, a good deal of university appoints are are wasted dollars. Is this what you want to discuss? If so please expound on the usefulness of your couple.
