Eastwood = Mark Block Redux

I just watched it again and have completely changed my opinion on it. I'm calling it a "Mark Block" kind of moment. The truth is, he did a fantastic job.

I say "Mark Block Moment" because it was stirring and shocking in such a way that it really caused a lot of people to consider the entire question of the election in a much deeper way than even I had before.

It made me uncomfortable to see him so weak with age, and the timbre of his voice that was noticeably shaky. But I'll tell you what - I thought about nothing else more than I thought about this speech, all weekend long. It went way viral - 771,250 hits in two days.

Like Mark Block's Herman Cain ad, one's initial response is "What the hell was that? -- Was there something wrong there? -- Is this a huge mistake somehow? -- Is this far afield, is this political or not? -- Are you allowed to do that? -- Is this breaking some rule?"

But now I am smiling. The faux pas - and that's exactly what it is - is so unnerving that you eventually have to go back and see what he said. And I did. And it's excellent.

I sense a landslide coming. And with his internal polling, I suspect Mr. Obama senses one too.

That chair - no, not that ☝one - the actual one Eastwood spoke to - is already worth millions of dollars. It will someday be in the Smithsonian.

It isn't surprising at all that the wingnuts are doubling down on the Eastwood debacle. There's only two choices. Admit fault or deny there's a problem.

It's perfect. If Romney wins, Eastwood's bit was perfect. If he loses, it's because the liberal haters beat up an old man. What's not to love?
