Trying to find odds on this guy ending up a pile of goo

If it's news, but not politics, then it goes here.

Trying to find odds on this guy ending up a pile of goo

Postby Endo Rockstar » Tue Oct 09, 2012 11:28 am

Red Bull Stratos Live Cam:

54 minutes to launch at the time of this post. Felix Baumgartner decides to jump out of a damn balloon with a parachute on at 120,000 feet. So far up in fact, that he won't be able to control his descent until he reaches a thicker part of the atmosphere.

Messed up, but cool as hell.

Going to take a late lunch today....

Same here. folks on twitter are reporting the same thing. It was just a live stream of the sky before, so its not a big a loss yet.

PBS Live stream on Ustream is covering it too, once again though, its just a live stream of the crane setting up of the rig in the distance: http://www.ustream.tv/pbsnewshour

An old article, but one of the more fascinating things I've read in a long time.

Funny how things like this make my comfortable desk job seem like a waste of time. Not a whole lot of carpe diem going on here.

It was a liberal conspiracy.

To bad about the launch conditions today. I have been following this project for awhile and I don't expect it to go badly. But a 120,000 ft free fall?! That's absurdly cool! I expect if there is any goo involved there will be a touch of it in his shorts.

Here we go!

Felix is at about 50,000 feet as of this post.

Edge of my seat!

Felix is reporter a problem with his helmet faceshield heater to reduce fog.

Not sure if this will affect the mission or not.

Wow, that was some crazy shit. The shot from above him when he first jumped was nuts.

It was amazing how he was able to so quickly come out of that spin once he hit thicker air. Given how I felt today, I think a moon landing or manned mission to Mars would result in stroke.
