If it was 'just a mistake', that implies the state GOP was targeting a get-out-the-vote campaign in a strongly Democratic area. That seems highly implausible.
If it wasn't an intentional effort at voter suppression, the onus is on the GOP to prove otherwise.
DCB makes a really good point. There is no reason for the GOP to conduct a voter registration drive in Madison, or really anywhere in Dane County. Doing so would be against its interests. But conducting a voter suppression
effort in Dane County would be in its interests. So, we have motive (reducing the Democratic vote) that supports the evidence (fraudulent voter registration material guaranteed to prevent proper registration).
So, Meade -- Do you agree GOP had motive for voter suppression effort? Do you agree effect of GOP mass mailing was suppression of Madison/Dane County vote? And what was the GOP doing conducting a voter registration drive in Madison at all?
And bdog, the thread title is accurate.
