Well now what? I wonder how the "base" feels about this.

Michael Walsh calls it the candidate's Gettysburg Moment:

What he ought to do is step up and embrace the basic division in our nation, including the fact that nearly half the country pays no income taxes. Acknowledge it — and then explain why, morally, this is not a good thing. Why having no skin in the game while at the same time demanding a say in the proceedings at the federal level is fundamentally undemocratic. One need not embrace the Starship Troopers ethos of Robert A. Heinlein to understand that in a democracy, everyone should pay something — and that to confuse the issue of the (Progressive-era) 16th-amendment-sanctioned federal income taxes with Social Security (“payroll”) levies and state and local taxes is intellectually dishonest.

Wednesday was certainly a sobering part of the campaign for Obama's folks. So what does Romney's cabal do? They use the attention Romney got from the debate to try and right the most egregious wrong of his campaign (the 47% tape). Only problem is, everyone sees through the bullshit, right? Well, maybe not so. Romney is looking for a few hundred thousand independent voter to try and steal one or two swing states. It's a desperate tactic, but a potentially effective one should Obama fail to show up at next week's debate. Of course, good job numbers will help energize Obama as well. So we'll see. Romney's plan might backfire if those independent voters perceive his flip flop on the 47% as "desperate".
All I want to know is, why did it take Romney so long to denounce his own statement?

Ok, this one has me puzzled:

Why Is Romney Campaigning on Medical Quackery?
He's going after the ultimate niche voter: Virginia’s Lyme disease conspiracy theorists.

Put "completely wrong" into a google image search and see what comes up.

Romney is counting on Citizens United to carry him to victory.

Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his allies are banking heavily on a high-risk, high-reward media strategy in the final weeks of the campaign, hoping that burying President Obama in ads will give them a crucial edge on Election Day.

Ad purchases in the presidential race doubled or in some cases tripled last week in swing states such as Colorado, Florida, Iowa and Virginia, tracking data show. The surge is being driven by Romney and well-funded allies, who decided against running more ads earlier in the campaign in favor of a big bang at the end.

GOP Outspend Dems on TV Ads, But Have Fewer Ads to Show for It

Data from Kantar Media's CMAG, an ad tracking firm, showed that during the week of Oct. 4-Oct. 11 Mitt Romney, the RNC and Republican outside groups combined to outspend President Obama and his allies on on TV ads by about $5 million - $31.6 million to $28.05 million.

Even so, the Democrats had more about 5,000 more ads on television.

How is this possible?

Rules covering campaign spending mandate that candidates are able to buy air time cheaper than outside groups.

Almost all the advertising bought by Democrats was purchased by the Obama campaign, while more than half of the GOP spending was by outside groups like SuperPACs

Mitt Romney's Bain Helped Philip Morris Get U.S. High Schoolers Hooked On Cigarettes

When Mitt Romney served as CEO of Bain & Co., his consulting firm helped tobacco giant Philip Morris develop a groundbreaking sales strategy that researchers say has been linked to an unprecedented spike in youth smoking.

On Friday April 2, 1993, Philip Morris stunned Wall Street and tobacco experts by the slashing price on its flagship Marlboro brand by 40 cents a pack, to $1.80. It was a landmark day for the tobacco industry, one that became known as "Marlboro Friday" to public health experts.
...
It was the single largest four-year growth in youth smoking since the surgeon general had issued a report in 1964 linking cigarettes to cancer, according to Matthew Myers, president of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

Yet his religion considers tobacco use (even by adults) a sin.
