Thank you, swimminguupstreamwithoutanoodle. But, although his comments do tend to be entertaining train wrecks, I don't think Stu is "a oblivious self-regarding dick".

Meade, I don't think you would be the best of judges in this matter.

Huffington Post's Dan Froomkin exposes more GOP voter supression efforts, in VA and FL, here.

The Republican nut jobs must be livid now that the SCOTUS has refused to halt early voting in Ohio.

The Virginia State Board of Elections (SBE) is aware that some Virginia
voters, particularly older Virginians, are receiving phone calls from unidentified individuals
informing voters that they can vote over the phone.

Hey, it's an honest mistake by these groups. Maybe the person making the calls misspoke. Maybe there was a typo in the script. Maybe the caller misheard. Maybe it was backwards day. Maybe it was make a silly joke call day.

I'm sure Meade can explain the obvious mistake.

As noted above, the USSC has denied Ohio's request to curtail early voting in the state. This is regarded as a victory by Democrats.

No wonder:

According to a Reuters/Ipsos national survey, about 10 percent of likely voters have already cast ballots. And of those who have voted, Obama holds a sizable lead over Romney - 56 percent to 35 percent. The poll has a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of plus or minus about five percentage points.

That contrasts with a much closer race according to polls of likely voters. There, the president holds just a slight edge of 46 percent to 43 percent in Tuesday's Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll.

For what it's worth, I think "SCOTUS" is the more commonly understood abbreviation. Analogous to POTUS.

Now GOP voter suppression efforts have even seized official power -- Maricopa County, AZ, published voter registration cards showing the wrong election date in Spanish. Oh, I'm sorry, it was just an inadvertent error that they thankfully caught before it did too much damage.

Right.

Stu Stu Stu....

Why would these nefarious Republicans publish the correct date mere millimeters away from the wrong date?

But...it is possible you are correct. The 50 voters this was sent to may be enough to swing the election.

Might want to add tin foil to Terese's shopping list.

USSC is the proper abbreviation. SCOTUS is kind of a colloquial abbreviation. And I'm pretty sure you'll never read a legal opinion that refers to the POTUS, either.

Don't forget the FLOTUS.

I think that started during the Clinton administration. Am I right?

"A Pennsylvania man employed by a company working for the Republican Party of Virginia was arrested by investigators from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s office on Thursday and charged with destroying voter registration forms."

Details here.

Oh, wait, he was just on an anti-litter campaign, right?

Right.

Now Stu, is it confirmed that he hadn't just run background checks on all those applications and found them all to be felons?

Isn't it also possible that he filled out all of those forms himself with the intention of committing voter fraud, but realized the error of his ways and decided to discard them? I mean, that's possible, isn't it?

Details here.

He was working for Nathan Sproul, who is quite the innovator in the dirty tricks department.
Former Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT), during a hearing on voter fraud observed, “so the difference between ACORN and Sproul is that ACORN doesn’t throw away or change registration documents after they have been filled out.”

This sleazeball is also working for the coal industry. And...
Republic Report reviewed disclosures from the Federal Elections Commission. Sproul’s Lincoln Strategy Group has received about $71,391 in payments for “field consulting” and “rent & utilities” by the Romney for President Inc. committee from November 30th through March 2nd of this year.
