What if banks were run like elections?

Postby Sandi » Mon Oct 22, 2012 5:24 pm

This ad is running in Minnesota but the voting laws are essentially the same here in Wisconsin. It shows just exactly how stupid the left is on Voter ID.

Note that the woman is just walking down the street, not leaving her home, when she spots a bill in a mailbox.

Would you bank there?

Alas, elections are not financial institutions. Feel free not to vote here;) In the ad, they conveniently forgot to mention that if you can't give an account number, you can't make a withdrawal..hmmm, pesky details..

What pesky details? How do you know that a person would/could not have the account number? Many people throw their bank statements in the trash: stupid though it may be.

It's wonderfully ironic that, in a country with the lowest voter turnout rates in the entire developed world, the right wing noise machine is able to convince so many people that the problem is ... too many people voting.

Sandi, we get it. Your party can't win unless it throws up as many obstacles as possible to prevent or discourage people from voting.

If that were my party, I'd be ashamed of it.

Huh?

Nobody would as they'd be out of business. What does that have to do with elections?

The difference here is that the bank will give you $150 to open an account and they provide you with a number. They even will try to get you to open another account and give you a toaster and another number plus encourage you to open a third account for your business. Are you encouraging us to vote three times?

There are a lot of people I know on the right who would refuse to get a government number to vote. It smacks of communist totalitarianism. They could then track who you voted for. Better think this through more.

What if Sandi didn't regurgitate talking points?

Postby jman111 » Mon Oct 22, 2012 6:00 pm

This exchange occurred on a previous occasion when Sandi exhibited her desire to parrot right wing talking points. It shows just exactly how stupid people can sound when they blithely repeat partisan rhetoric.

Correct, and 47 percent don't pay any federal income tax at all. They get enough breaks to cancel their taxes out.

So we have 53 percent carrying the 47 percent whiners.

So I am guessing that you are one of the 47% whiners.

If you are making $7,200 in social security and $8,712 in other income taxed as oridnary income and not investment earnings, your federal tax should be -0- Sandi. ($1,326 * 12 = $15,912)

You either have an intersting tax situation that is different than most or you are not having a correct tax return completed.

Where are you coming up with other income? As I said the $1,326 is all social security.

I guess I would be one of the eceptions in the 47% group, but I never whine about my income or what the govt doesn't do for me. The government doesn't owe me crap, neither do you or any other tax payer.

If Sandi didn't have a valid ID, I suppose she would be one of the
"eceptions" in that group, too.

I am in the 47 percent. I live solely on Social Security.

What about that rent check, whiner?
Doesn't that contribute to your "living"?

Sandi, take my utility bill to the bank and see how much money you get for it. mmmkay?

For that matter, take it to the polling place and see if they let you vote.

You're an idiot.

Incidentally, stealing mail out of someone's mailbox is a federal crime.

That's just ONE of the differences.

I've been voting for decades. Do I get interest on that? should my votes count 20% more than a new voter?

Exactly, thank you for making my point. The bank is secure, voting isn't.

That does not contribute towards my living, it goes to, and covers a bit over half the mortgage.

However if that is important to you, call it towards my living. It still does not move me out of the 47 percent.
