Even if we stipulate that 1158337 people signed the recall petition, and if we take the 24332 votes for Hari Trivedi as favoring the removal of Walker from office, that still leaves nearly 1.75 million non-looney, non-leftish, expected voters in Wisconsin who will be marking their ballots for someone other than Barack Obama next Tuesday. No wonder he feels a need to fly in, the day before the election, in order to shore up his base - a base obviously lagging in the enthusiasm of 2008.

Plus, he probably (mis)perceives that he has the power pull Tammy Baldwin across the finish line. If Congress goes entirely Republican, it will be a long four more years for a reelected Barack.

Ain't nobody arguing that. The Republicans have already proven they want to fuck with the president more than they want to help the country. No matter what he wants, they'll stop it any way they can.

I guess we will find out next Tuesday who is right and who is wrong.

Wisconsin is going to BO by a slim margin at this point. In his last campaign stops if he can change the margin from 3 points to 6 points he can easily pull Tammy to a victory.

Why send Bill Clinton to Waukesha? Becasue if you lose Waukesha county 65-35 instead of 70-30 Tammy wins.

The Dems have a very calulated strategy to get Tammy across the finish line. A line that no pundit even thought existed when she started this campaign. That the Dems are spending this much time in a state where BO is going to win is a statement that they believe that they can get Tammy home.

As to your last point, having a majority in a Senate that has been stymied time after time by the minority Rs to bring legislation to a vote, I don't think anything really changes if the Rs somehow manage to take the Senate.

Funny, I just went a looked up the recent election results for Wisconsin in both the Presidential and Governor races.

The Rs have never gotten more than 1,500,000 votes. Are you saying that mysteriously 17% more votes are going to be cast for a R than ever before?

2004 Presidential
Kerry - 1,489,501
Bush - 1,478-120

2008 Presidential
Obama - 1,670,474
McCain - 1,258,181

2010 Governor
Walker - 1,128,941
Barrett - 1,004,303

2012 Recall
Walker - 1,334,450
Barrett - 1,162,785

Hilars, though. As usual. Prosser, I'm sure, would love it.

I read some of the comments and people are all hatin' on Bruce Springsteen being there. If only Obama could have gotten Meatloaf.

And once again, what does Meade's post have to do with anything really?

From channel.3000's report:
The Madison visit is targeted at getting Democrats and young voters excited about the election the following day, Mayer said.

About two out of every three voters under the age of 30 chose Obama in 2008, poll data indicate.

Hmmmm. If this involves the loser, Hank and a tube of Ben Gay, I'm not interested.
