Considering she's a devout born again Christian I was surprised she came out for Obama like she did.
Plus it could hurt her record sales with Walmart shoppers.
That's nothing to laugh at, and I bet her management raised it with her more than once.

Is she? Thought I read that her parents were quite the bible thumpers and that had turned her off of it considerably. Anyways anyone notice the sweet Antigua P bass behind her? Man I'd hit that.

I'm scandalized by this appeal to bass instincts.

1. Dreams of escaping techno-economic absurdity.

2. No longer waiting to see which will fail first, the economic system that feeds on us, or the natural system that nourishes us.

3. The hope that capitalism can learn to behave, stay tuned.

I think it's two things:

1. Republican Electoral College Ceiling - it's there now, just like it was for the dems back when. Basically losing 1-2 "contested" states puts them under the 270 line. Their platform over the last 15 years has put them in a bad place with pretty much anyone who is not male/white/35+.

2. Field Game - Obama had SUCH a better field operation. Not anywhere near the same amount of coverage on this this year, but Obama's team understood where the swing votes were and did a great job of having complex, well-organized teams on the ground in all of those areas. There was a ton of media attention given to the "swing voter" and frankly, Obama's campaign didn't work that hard at hitting these special unicorns - they worked at increasing turnout amongst the folks they knew they could count on.

3. OK, bonus round - Republican leaderships inability to understand polling/numbers - look no further than the "Nate Silver Is Stupid" people to understand this thought. I mean, dude is obviously liberal and everything, but what he was doing really wasn't rocket science.

1. A Republican primary system which forces it's contenders very far to the right.

2. A related item, a candidate who courts the far right wing of the party will inevitably be caught on video saying something that sounds batshit crazy to moderates. Be it the 47% remark or rejection of science (especially climate escience right before a weather event that is truly without precedent) they will eventually step in it.

3. Demographic changes.

Could y'all stop posting pictures of Katy Perry, please?

Unless you're middle school boys, of course, then it's not so creepy, I suppose. Otherwise though, you're kinda grossing me out.
