Ugh, another day I regret staying on Willy St one more year. Every place I was looking to move to is now in an open council district. The Common Council is forced to endure two more years without my presence.

It's our collective loss as a city.

I'm imagining a guy standing in a humid post-grad apartment on Ingersoll with a ward map on the wall, districts shaded in various colors based on their political opportunities.

"It's between a walkable grocery store with a decent deli and beer selection and the social siberia of the far east side, with a wide open council seat."

What do you know about the far east side? I doubt you've set foot in it other than perhaps to gas up your hybrid on your way to Milwaukee. Take your arrogance and shove it up your ass.

Rough Friday, E-man?

Pretty sure the offending text is a tongue-in-cheek characterization, hence the quotation marks.

But as a far east-sider, I gotta say, "social siberia" ain't all that far off the mark.

As another far-east sider I'm going to advize you to maybe strike up a conversation with your neighbors, or visit an establishment other than Woodman's and Walmart. I'm not sure exactly what you've looking for in terms of "social experience," but I doubt you'll find it sitting on your couch.

Growing up on the east side of Madison I've listened to the bs from people like JJ all my life. You'd think the east side of town was south central LA the way some folks on the "better side of town" talk. For the most part I could give a shit, but I was a little over served by the local barkeep last night and came across the post.

There is a whole lot to the "east side" of Madison. Where, generally, are we talking about. Where does "near east" end and "east" begin? What constitutes "far east"

Earthling wrote:"better side of town"

Where is that?

Well, I've gotta hand it to you. At least, unlike JJ, you're above cheap, predictable stereotypes.

Strike four, whiffer.

I've heard only that the far east side is full of people with good humor and cheer. I doubt you're actually from there.

I live on the west side and drive gas guzzling Mazda. But I do drive it arrogantly.

I'm concerned we're going to get to the end of 2012 without once ever seeing Meade actually be funny, despite numerous attempts at humor.

C'mon LM, do a funny. Do it. Do it now.

Oh come on, almost everything he says is a joke. I find him extremely hilarious.
