When will they let this go?

Races for the Senate, U.S. House, etc. and other issues of national importance.

When will they let this go?

Postby jman111 » Fri Dec 07, 2012 9:57 am

In discussing Michigan's lame duck session votes in favor of right-to-work laws, F. Vincent Vernuccio of the Mackinac Center (a "free-market think tank") defends the timing of the votes:
Vernuccio said Thursday's rapid pace of events may have been timed that way to ward off potential unrest, as occurred last year in Madison, Wisconsin, where laws affecting government unions were passed and thousands of people took to the streets in protest. "Republicans in Lansing were probably trying to avoid a siege that would do significant damage to the capital," said Vernuccio.

Never, especially as long as "journalists" continue to provide a scrutiny-free zone for the dissemination of such nonsense.

What nonsense? That the siege of the Wisconsin Capitol did "significant damage"?

But it did, didn't it?

What significant damage? To the capital? To the states integrity?

Hurricane Sandy caused "significant damage" The protests did not.

To the Capitol: $270,000
To the budget for security costs during siege: $7 million
To the teachers unions' integrity: priceless

It's a great way to do damage. Just take all the upkeep and maintenance you had to do that year and say you had to do it because of the protests.

Then force your law enforcers to do things that don't need to be done and add that in too.

Presto. Damage.

He is quoted as saying "capital", not "capitol".
It's not clear if that accurately reflects his intention. Either way...

I'm with Meade - it's not like our capitol is a public building and it's not like an outraged constituency has the right to get together and make their opinion known.

If you people would stop whining and let job creators like Walker and Meade get to work, things would be so very peachy right now. As is, these guys have HARDLY had a chance to create jobs from their sweat and intellect.
