Well, the first thing I do is check to see if pj's been drinking again.

Actually, I don't look at either active or new, I just look at the front page and mash buttons for a few minutes to find something entertaining.

Speaking of entertaining, that American Apparel ad is better than a Snoqueen-Meade cagefight. It needs a pause button. Those extra bikini lines are a faux pas, right? Not in my book. Caliente!

New posts keeps me from spending too much time here. Active posts when I'm trying to kill a little time.

Thanks for the coaching. I am still trying to figure out how to place a hyperlink while tapping on the gorilla glass, so I didn't notice this feature. Although, at first glance it seems useful.

Some people just want to know what the most popular new spots are. (Active)

I think your post is spot on except for this. The Active view let's you know who started the thread and who posted last. It's easy enough to make out the Blaska-Meade circle jerks without actually stepping in the puddle.

Well I'll be damned. May be time to change those 6 year old bookmarks.

I'm a leader, not a follower.

I look at neither.

When I have been here recently I will use the "New Post" otherwise if it has been a day or so, the "Active Topics" works a bit better.

The available selections are very similar, and there are a lot more selections that could be offered. However for forum software that is free it is quite good.

Still as an add-on contributor and user of a paid forum IP.Board ( $175 ) by Invision Power Services I am used to more: Post in last 24 hour, since last visit, in last week, I have not read, on my watch list, I have replied to etc.

Neither, I look at the last post time for each topic in the forum index and check out the topics (though not necessarily the threads) with new posts.

I check in every day with "view new posts" and the link always takes met to new posts so I guess I'm always logged in. "First unread post" in each thread is my friend!

What would really be useful would be opposing "shit smart people are saying" and "shit dipshits are spouting" links.

I realize that's a programmatic nightmare, however, to say nothing of being a horribly lopsided endeavor.

Sometimes I also search for user, find Meade, and read everything he has written. He is so smart and dreamy. Althouse is one fucking lucky lady. SIGH

Personally, I find Meade a bit repetitive and predictable. He used to at least get my juices flowing in all the wrong ways, but lately he just posts the same stuff over and over.

Here's a search on Meade's last five posts:

Seriously dude, come up with some new material.
