Yes, construction season is now in full swing. Dayton is blocked off near Randall and so is a street right off the Square.

Oh... you mean Sandhills. My bad.

A red-winged black bird has returned to claim his territory to the south of our house. Today while driving I saw my first robin of the year. Fortunately it flew over my car and not into it.

1. Saw a canoe tethered to the top of a Subaru this afternoon.
2. Rolled down the car windows after work because it was hot in the car.
3. Cats are shedding, yowling, licking, and scratching at the windows.
4. Smelled charcoal briquettes being lit with lighter fluid. Gross. Use lump charcoal and a chimney starter.
5. Seriously considering putting snow shovel away in garage.

Three straight days of sunshine...the snow pile in my alley is melted enough that I can put the trash can back where it goes. Cardinals abound, and I saw the first robin this morning on my way into the office. Little green things poking up around my yard too! (I didn't live here last year, no idea what they'll be). Spring has finally come to Milwaukee.

Five, count 'em five (5), LIVE boxelder bugs on the inside of the living room picture window this morning! (As contrasted to the last of the dead ones that we swept/vaccuumed up sometime around Thanksgiving.)

A tight grouping of "lake flies" plastered on the hood of the Mini this afternoon. Croci in four different colors-white, orange, lavender and purple in the yard. Some are 3 inches already.

Screech Owl calling (not the best word to describe it, it sounds more like a horse neighing underwater thru a 2:1 compressor.)

I'm not even going to ask how you're familiar with that particular sound...

There is wild parsnip everywhere! It is currently blooming so one can spot it.

Two medium/large trees uprooted by high winds, formerly growing on the edge of the field behind Gompers, are blocking traffic on Wheeler. As I circumnavigated to find my way home, I saw a lot more tree damage, including a 30'-40' pine that was snapped fairly cleanly in half.

Finally burned off the remaining fuel in my snowblower on Monday. Despite it being cold and gloomy enough to make me wonder if that was such a great idea....

It's May 30th and there are 23 trees down along Sherman, Wheeler, Delaware and Comanche on the northside. A sure sign of a very wet spring.
