DNR greenlights milk factory; Richfield locals surprised

Postby rabble » Sun Mar 31, 2013 10:20 pm

Goodness me. You mean the DNR is allowing a high volume, intensive water usage corporate dairy farm in OUR backyard? We thought all that DNR regulation easement and business-friendly attitude was going to happen somewhere else.

It never occurred to us that someone would be going after millions of gallons of lake water from OUR lakes after that last drought brought 'em all down and this year looks like it'll be just as bad. But the DNR's hands are tied. They'd like to help. Can't. Sorry.

What are you worried about?
But officials with Milk Source Holdings, which would build the farm, say computer models show the effects on waterways would be minimal.

Minimal, I tell ya!

But the agency says state laws limit its authority to consider the cumulative impact of wells on nearby waterways.

Right. They need special authority to use the 'add' function on their calculator.
