Ron Johnson's Grandstanding

Postby MPMay » Wed Mar 27, 2013 9:07 pm

Our idiot Senator is at it again. You are now invited to send him your examples of being a "Victim of Government."

Story:

http://host.madison.com/ct/news/local/w ... f887a.html

Link to tell Ronny how you were a Victim of Government:

http://www.ronjohnson.senate.gov/public ... p=feedback

So here was my submission:

"Yes, I'm a victim of idiotic politicians like you that put up these worthless grandstanding projects instead of spending time solving our problems.

"Go back to work with the folks across the aisle and adopt a reasonable budget.

"That's how I'm victimized. Get to work, Johnson."

Feel free to submit your own.

I think I will. Although I fear, as in the past, the missives returned will contain text lifted directly lifted from the heritage foundation's webpage. I find this behaviour sad. Again, we deserve a better product!

So he couldn't find a victim of government in Wisconsin?

As one might have expected, there's more to the story than RoJo is letting on to...

Meet real estate developer not-so-extraordinaire, Stephen Lathrop.

In 1990, Lathrop bought a tract of swamp land, in a floodplain, on the cheap, with visions of turning it into a real estate development. The area he bought was called the Dobrey Slough and, as the name of this parcel implies, it was a low lying marshy land on the outskirts of one of the Mississippi River's favorite flooding areas: Granite City, Illinois. Did I mention it was in a floodplain?

Lathrop's plan entailed filling in the swampy areas, creating a "lake" over a part of the area that had been an old garbage dump, and putting houses around it. The only problem is that you can't just fill in wetlands, build a lake on top of an old dump, have it drain into nearby waterways, in a floodplain, and not get on the radar screen of the Army Corps of Engineers.

And that's exactly what happened: The Army Corps of Engineers said that Lathrop failed to get a so called Section 404 permit. Section 404 of the Clean Water Act requires that you establish a program to regulate the discharge of dredged and fill material into waters of the United States, including wetlands. The Corps also didn't give him the necessary permission to build in a floodplain.

Speaking of which, whatever happened to the tract of houses built in a marsh near Spring Green, houses that had to be abandoned after serious long term flooding a few years ago?

You know, these regulations exist for a reason.

Maybe RoJo needs to ask a different question: how have you been harmed by failure to enforce, lifting of, haphazard or weak enforcement of, or total disregard for various environmental regulations?

Maybe Johnson would undertand a baseball analogy.

That was the "Prairie View" subdivision. After the 2008 floods, 20 homes in the subdivision were uninhabitable, along with another 8 elsewhere in the area. The town got $5.4 million from the state and federal governments to buy the land and turn it back into green space. The houses were dismantled and partially recycled.

Well I think we should all complain to him about the problems caused by government not doing it's job- like regulation and taxation.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I expect my government to stand between me and big business. Every time the government stands behind big business, I am victimized.

The man is gone and started his own video collection of victims of government!

http://www.fox11online.com/dpp/news/wis ... deo-series

This gonna be good, people. Except right now there's only one video up there (his own) and it froze Firefox.

Stay tuned.

The youtube link probably plays better snowqueen.

I am of two minds on this, as I posted on my forum. The corp of engineers probably should fix the flooding problems if it is feasible.

On the other hand, I have always contended that flood plains are as much a part of rivers as the river bed. Anyone who builds on a flood plain will get little sympathy from me. Ron Johnson is not convincing me that the guy was anything but foolish with his money.

Johnson isn't ready to share Wisconsinites "government victim" complaints. I wonder what he is trying to hide? I surmise his grandstanding didn't produce the results he wanted.

Ron Johnson isn't sharing his 'victim' stories yet

Maybe Johnson's version of the Red Scare has turned into Dead Hair.
