The gentrification of the second amendment.

Races for the Senate, U.S. House, etc. and other issues of national importance.

Wow. Somebody who knows how many people get killed by guns but is not very knowledgeable about the mechanism of guns has demonstrated that she doesn't understand the mechanism of guns.

This means she is completely incapable of understanding anything, at any time, and any statistics she might quote are not just subject to scrutiny, they are to be dismissed immediately without discussion.

Because she doesn't know how a gun magazine works.

So. Shall we apply this rule to any other politicians and any other issues? If they demonstrate a lack of knowledge on any aspect of an issue, they should be immediately removed from the discussion?

I wonder if she actually does know how many people are killed by long guns. Not that many. Something like 3-400 in 2011. About the same number as killed by rocks.

She is not just some random congressperson. She is supposed to be an expert on magazines. She is the one who is designing the laws about them. Shouldn't she be expected to have at least some glimmer of knowledge about what they are and how they work?

She is in good company, though. Obama has shown, with his comments about the use of an "automatic" weapon in Newtown. Not even a slip of the tongue. He first said "semi-automatic" and then corrected himself. And he is supposed to be some sort of genius, isn't he?

It's definitely worse than a politician pointing out that a woman's reproductive system turns off when she gets raped.

Let it go, rabble. Gun nuts are something of peacocks when it comes to their gun knowledge. When someone doesn't know much about guns it gives them a chance to strut around and impress the other gun nuts with their beautiful, beautiful tail feathers.

I mean really, Barack Obama doesn't know the difference between an automatic and a semi-automatic weapon??? Strut, strut, strut. How can you be President and the Commander-in-Chief if you're so ignorant??? Strut, strut, strut.

It sounds like substance, but only to fellow peacocks. To the rest of us it's just feathers.

Allow me to pluck a few of those feathers. Would you be interested in the arcane rules of baseball if you were convinced that baseball was on its last season? The reason so many of the liberal persuasion are proudly ignorant of all things firearms is because they consciously or not believe guns are anachronisms that are on their way out so why learn anything about them? They may be right. That's also why you can't believe them when they say they don't want to ban guns.

Yep. 'Cause everybody knows, in the future, hunting will be done with laser beams!

The Fox and Friends think Congress should have to take an IQ test to make sure they know "stuff about guns" which is dumb on so many levels. For one they either equate gun knowledge with intelligence or they don't understand what an IQ test is. I'm going to go with the latter. Giving an IQ test to gauge knowledge of guns is like giving a paternity test to check for cancer.

Let's drop the pedantic discussion of "auto" vs. "semi-auto." it is the attempt by gun fanatics to muddy the waters, and not a lack of understanding on the left which causes this to still be a talking point. Fact is, the real concern is not how the gun fires, but how it loads. In terms of America's gun violence problems, auto-loading, semi-auto fire arms are no less dangerous than full-auto firearms.

Well, that explains why so many of the conservative persuasion are so proudly ignorant of book learnin' when they talk about lazy greedy union thug teachers.

The question is whether we want particular individuals -- convicted criminals, the mentally ill, and some others -- to be able to kill other people at a distance by using a firearm, particularly one that he doesn't need to stop and reload all the time.

The details of the firearm are the least of it. It's about trying to have fewer of these victims in the future.

The gun details are not only a peacock thing, but yet another distraction technique.

Closer than you think.

The Pentagon has plans to deploy its first ever ship-mounted laser next year, a disruptive, cutting-edge weapon capable of obliterating small boats and unmanned aerial vehicles with a blast of infrared energy.

Star Wars here we come. Although, I think the weapons should be limited to 10 laser beam shots and a background check to make sure your not a Sith Lord.

If that is the criteria, I would definitely not pass.
