Irony, Corruption & Hypocrisy on Capitol Hill

Postby Rousekugel » Thu May 02, 2013 12:13 pm

Rep. Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R - NH) says that the only way to prevent tragedies like Sandy Hook is to fix our broken mental health system. (She voted against the recent gun control bill.)
It's definitely NOT the "only" way; it's multi-faceted, as any major national problem is.
But it definitely makes the case for "Obamacare", doesn't it? Without health care, many mentally ill people (who are poor because they're ill) would NEVER get ANY treatment at all.
I just find it ironic that (many of) our Republicanl egislators/representatives HATE "Obamacare" & want it repealed, yet they're blaming our "broken" mental health system, and NOT on our lax gun laws. THEY'RE the people who've been trying to PREVENT the very health care reform which Sen Ayotte says is the only way to prevent mass murder via guns.
We need Mental Health Care reform AND Firearm law reform.
One without the other is doomed to fail.

I'm not so sure that I follow your logic on this. And what exactly is Mental Health Care reform? Is it just making sure that people have access to health care? Because we're already taking steps in that direction, depending on how implementation goes over the next few years.

And you don't have to put Obamacare in parentheses anymore. Even Obama calls it Obamacare, so I guess that's its name.

It's the only way for firearm fellators.

I'm sorry, I can't take seriously or be concerned about anything coming from Sen. Kelly Ayotte; she's second only to our own Ron Johnson in terms of cluelessness.
