Projected Six-Month Economic Outlooks

Postby HawkHead » Wed Jun 12, 2013 3:02 pm

Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia releases 6 month growth projections.

Only 5 states are projected to have an economic contraction. Guess who is on the list???

Wyoming
Wisconsin
Lousianna
North Dakota
Alaska

Illinois, our Governor's favorite whipping boy, is in the top 10 for growth over the next 6 months.

All the states adjacent to Wisconsin are projected to have generous positive growth rates. So it's not regional.

The big questions are, first, can the Democratic party (or can ANYBODY) get this message out to the voting public? And second, can enough votes be found in more "purple" Wisconsin districts (around state universities, in the western part of the state, etc) to overcome the effect of Republican redistricting?

Here is a chart showing states where one party or the other controls both the legislature and governorship, by party:

http://www.statescape.com/resources/par ... plits.aspx

The states on Hawk's list that have the poorest outlook are all purely Republican controlled. The states with the best outlook are a mix, some Republican, some Democratic, and some split. So you can't write off a bad outlook entirely to Republican control any more than you can write it off to an upper midwest effect, though all-Republican control doesn't seem to bring the best results overall. (Someone who likes Excel could quantify this better than I can.)

No, it's gotta be some unique Scott Walker poison thing.

The photo also show the bottom 10 states. They all have something in common. There governors belong to a party that rhymes with shmemublican.

So much for being fiscally conservative.

Yeah, and instead of trying to fix it, they're obsessed with transvaginal ultrasounds....

Not that 1.36% growth is something to be happy about (IA), but WI lags at least 2% behind everyone else in the region.

That and suppressing the voting hours, same day registration and preemptively barring enforcement of federal laws on guns and soda that don't exist. It's a big agenda. I just don't see "jobs" in it anywhere.

None of this matters. What matters is that Walker took those uppity public employee union thugs down a peg. He's winning re-election. Madison is not the whole state. So other than for climate, welcome to living in Austin Texas.

Who's going against him? If they pull Barrett out and dust him off again I'm going to glare menacingly at them.

If they do that I'm moving to Minnesota, where my tax money wouldn't be used mostly to spread cheer among the already-wealthy.
