Act 10, Redux

Postby Henry Vilas » Tue Jul 30, 2013 12:05 pm

Now Walker wants to go after police and firefighter unions.

Gov. Scott Walker says he is open to limiting collective bargaining for police and firefighter unions, just as was done to other public sectors unions two years ago.

What's next, destroying their pensions like the GOPers are proposing to do in Detroit?

This sounds like part of his divide and conquer deal.

The PD and FD weren't as easily divided out from the other public servants as Walker had hoped they would be so now they get to be in the Conquered camp instead. Meanwhile head of the WEDC gets a 50% raise.

You don't think this is a part of the original plan?

No I think he thought they would continue to support them since he exempted them from the draconian cuts. They supported him before Act 10.

He didn't have universal police and fire fighter's union support in the election. In fact I'm think it may have been only the Milwaukee city unions who I think still supported him in the recall. Not really much changed there.

As long as he can keep the thugs from the State Patrol on his side, he ain't worried one bit....but what about the Capitol Police? Municipal police? If they were to revolt.....nah, never happen;)

Next the "I stand with Scott Walker" private union members will discover that their guy just might be open to right-to-work laws.

It's the frog in the boiling pot syndrome.

More on topic, it was interesting to note that one of the reasons cited for prison guards leaving the WESU for the WACLE was
its promise to be more responsive to member concerns and possibly less involved in electoral politics

It looks like that is exactly what's in the plans for this new year.

Right Wisconsin makes some suspiciously specific predictions for 2014
