Tim Slekar on Books & Beats

Prepping interview with Tim Slekar, new dean of education at Edgewood College and a national leader in the effort to end High Stakes Testing. Anybody got any questions?

Do you think high school students should be tested on their understanding of evolution?

Do you think science testing should include topics such as intelligent design?

Do you ever worry that you're part of the problem rather than part of the solution?

Do you respect female students enough to let them decide whether they want to terminate a pregnancy?

Does a catholic education turn you into a douchebag like Ned Flanders or David Blaska?

You might want to reword those...

Troll.

Haven't seen such knee-jerk anti-Catholicism since the heyday of the Klan. Congratulations.

And you think that Ned and Blaska are douchebags, eh? Might want to look for a mirror.

But it's all good, peej -- I'll ask your questions, on the air, with attribution.

Stu, you could ask Prof. Slekar to talk about Edgewood College's Cutting Edge program for students with disabilities. It's administered through the School of Education and is a national model for inclusionary higher education. You can read about it on the Edgewood website.

*note that I have a son who is a sophomore in the program.

How about this: "Is there any way to reach people who have no idea what Edgewood College is about and how it works?"

Sorry, it was midnight and I was a bit tipsy and heading for bed.

And I'm not anti-Catholic... I'm anti-religion. Period. And I'm particularly anti-religion when the topic of religious schools comes up. No government money of any sort, no how, no way, should go to any religious institutions. No vouchers, no special tax status, nothing.

And I feel little sympathy for people complaining about anti-Catholic bias, even when it's coming from equally distasteful evangelicals. Throughout history the Catholic church has left a trail of blood wherever they go. A few Jews along the way too, if I'm not mistaken. And they're all going to heaven and you, Stu Levitan, are going to hell.

You don't have a problem with that?
