The pet peeve thread or let's bitch about things

A "re-homing fee" is charged by someone who has to give up their dog or cat due to unfortunate circumstances and wants to make sure it goes to a good home.

If your dog just had puppies because you bred it it's not a re-homing fee, you're SELLING THEM!

I don't like being inconvenienced because Mr. or Mrs. I Am The Center of the Universe can't be bothered to pay attention to their surroundings.

And I was going to bitch about how the time is always wrong on the Forum, and noticed that it is now correct.

That pisses me off!

A bad time on the bus:

When it's packed and dummies won't move back
When it's packed and there is no more room to move back to
People who sit alone on the aisle seat
People who use a second seat to put a bag on
People who incessantly make unpleasant conversation
Loud cell phone talkers
Singers
Rappers
Fighters
Thieves
Strollers the size of cars
Drunks who want to be your friend
A puddle of anything in the seat
Drivers who drive so badly you notice
Coughers and sneezers who won't cover up
People who never have a good word to say

Actually those two are fun. They are so surprised when I ask them politely to let me sit. And they always move. I've never once had to shout out to the driver asking if they paid for two seats.

People with huge backpacks on the bus and then don't take them off. They swing around knocking people's faces who are sitting down and don't realize it takes up more space then if they took it off and held it down.

Madison's street/road/lane lines.
As soon as you get a little rain and some cloud cover or darkness, they disappear.

Places that don't post their "no guns" signs conspicuously (as required by law.) It's a minor irritant at best since most places are not posted and few that I ever have reason to enter-- notable exceptions, campus buildings and my doctor's office.

Madison's hilarious position that aluminum and plexiglas bus shelters and a slab of concrete with a picnic table and roof over it in a park are "government buildings."

I agree with all the bus one's mentioned earlier.

That guy who witnessed Jehovah knocking at my door this weekend.

The snowplow drivers who seem to think the entrance to my freshly cleared driveway is a good place to leave a lot of snow.

People who think it's ok to drive 30 mph in crowded parking lots.

People who don't seem to have the ability to park between two parallel lines.

People in the grocery store standing around staring like they've just set foot on the planet for the first time 2 minutes earlier.

99% of television commercials.

My DVR cutting off of the last few seconds of next week's episode preview.

People who think Rachel Maddow or Sean Hannity or any of the left wing and right wing talk show self-important blowhards are worth watching.

Products that shrink in size and still cost the same, e.g., Twinkies, burgers at Culvers, some canned goods.

My stupid HP printer that thinks it needs to go "off line" all the time.

That guy over there. No, no... not that one, next to him. Yeah, that's the one.

The loss of free TV, at least where I live.

I've become so used to hearing only about 70% of the dialogue on the shows I watch that I'm starting to think that's how people talk in show business. Channel 57 seems to be the only one that is never affected. I have a "good" antenna too and I've moved it around to different places, but even on completely clear nights the reception sucks. Never had a problem before digital.

Those who don't signal left turns until after the light turns green.

I have issues with the three WPT channels on some nights and the three NBC channels on others, but oddly never on the same night. I also believe that the reception gets worse when I stand to the north side of my television but that could just be me mistaking correlation for causation yet again. That said I'm absolutely positive my clock radio loses WERN to static when I stand in my bedroom doorway.

Huh. I always sit in the aisle seat when there are no bench seats available. But then I'm not 5'4", so I couldn't fit anyway. If I'm in the window seat, I effectively take up 1.5 seats. If I'm in the aisle seat, I take up one seat and responsibly infringe a bit on the aisle. (I do always make it clear I'm ready to let the little people in, of course.)

I'm with Stebben on the backpacks. It's as if they were carrying an extension ladder à la Laurel and Hardy.

Why is the heat cranked up to sauna-level? I mean, we're all dressed for the exterior temperature and there's no coat rack, so WTF? And the newer buses are hermetically sealed — to multiply vectors for disease, I suppose.

On multi-lane roads, the people who wait at the stop light in the right lane when intending to go straight. The people behind you who could have turned right on red appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Also love it when needing to turn left across traffic, but made to wait while someone lumbers across the intersection because they were too busy talking on the cellphone to notice when the light changed. Thanks a lot, assholes! Plural, because there are so many of you.
