WORLD CUP FEVER BABY!!!

Badgers, Packers, Mallards. Paddling, running, golfing. And bikes!

WORLD CUP FEVER BABY!!!

Postby Remember_Me » Mon Jun 16, 2014 2:23 pm

Of which I have none.

Soccer sucks.

Unless you're 10.

Carry on.

I can't decide if I want to pretend and like soccer for a couple weeks or not. Seems like everyone is doing it.

I find it funny that "Americans" are getting pissed that the US soccer coach, who is a German, said that the US has no chance to win the World Cup.

These are people who maybe tune into soccer once every two years for the World Cup and the Olympics and can't figure out that soccer is dominated by the Europeans and South Americans.

Yeah, I had to pretend I like basketball recently which sucked.

Even worse, last night at like 9 or 10, a buddy mass texted me the following:

"SPURS! SPURS! SPURS!"

How exactly does one respond to that?

I just went with:

"BE JANGLIN', JANGLIN', JANGLIN'".

Haven't heard anything back from him yet.

Since I didn't grow up with association football/futbot (or whatever they want to call it), I never became a fan. And I haven't followed the NBA since Jordan retired. Maybe if the Bucks start winning I might.

Please, sports fans, keep telling us about the sports that you find boring.

Not sure if it is a sport or not, but one early morning on a weekend ESPN had the Scrabble Championship. Now that fucking sucked.

I am. It's apparently fairly big among people in my office as well, since SI.com and ESPN.com have been blocked since the opening game.

Apparently everyone streaming the game at their desks caused some network issues. Go figure.

Iran vs Nigeria seems to be the first really dull game so far. Of course that with just reading the guardian's live blog.

Has nothing to do with that. Everytime the Cup comes around, people crawl out of the woodwork as though they are some die hard soccer fan. This isn't like the Olympics. I have people posting about this shit all over Facebook and yet I haven't heard a peep from them about soccer since...well...4 years ago.

Plus the US sucks at soccer.

Golf. Never played it, never watched it.

I'm a homer. Brewers, Packers and Badgers. But even with UW, only b-ball and real football. Hockey I can take or leave. Pissed that they got rid of baseball, but I never really followed it at the college level. I root for the Mallards (oops, almost typed Muskies) from afar. Haven't been to one of their games in years.

We're actually the 13th highest rated national team at the moment. Probably not getting out of the group stage this time around, since our group contains the second and fourth highest ranked teams in the world (and a team that has managed to send the US home in the last two cups).

Yeah, it's not the olympics where we can count on being one or two in the medal count, but 13th out of 207 ranked teams is hardly sucking.

ESPN2 or something had the World Darts Championship on last night. I watched the last half of one match, that pitted two Dutch brothers against each other.

Just a great piece of work here, top to bottom.

Lots of people don't watch an inning of baseball until the World Series. Are you saying they shouldn't watch the WS then? That they're poseurs and should just opt out altogether?

2 USA-Ghana 1, in case you missed it.

I care so little for sports that I'm going to post up about it on an internet forum.

YAWN.

If you can watch Dempsey's goal and not have SOMEthing stir within you, I question your humanity.
