Capitol DOA employee brings knife to balloon fight

Postby TheBookPolice » Mon Jul 25, 2011 2:18 pm

http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/ ... 03286.html

Capitol police are investigating an alleged stabbing incident at the state Capitol.

The incident allegedly involved a citizen, a state worker and [a] balloon, Chief Charles Tubbs said.

"It's an incident that apparently involved a request of removing a balloon," Tubbs said.

Reports on the scene say the employee, Ron Blair, was trying to force a woman to let go of a heart balloon she was apparently planning on delivering. (DOA has not looked kindly on the balloon releases in the Rotunda.) He allegedly tried to pop it with his knife, and cut her hand instead.

UPDATE: Now the story at the above link reports that it was the employee's hand that was cut. Obviously, DEVELOPING.

Everything would have turned out just peachy if someone, anyone, had been packin' nearby.

WMTV is reporting that the state employee suffered a knife wound prior to bringing that weapon to bear upon the helpless balloon. A corollary to the admonition against running with scissors is warranted.

The NKA has issued a quick release in efforts to forestall the inevitable reactionary call for expanded knife control laws.

Knives don't kill balloons, lack of air pressure kills balloons.

Incidentally, this is actually a story that could include the phrase "Passersby were amazed at the unusual amount of blood."

From NBC 15:

Capitol Police say that the state employee involved in the balloon incident at the State Capitol Monday was arrested and charged today.

The state employee faces charge of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.

Channel3000.com's story here. Dude's on administrative leave (with pay). If he gets fired, Walker can replace him and call it a job he created.

If he's been arrested, how come he's still He Who Shall Not Be Named? Isn't his name a matter of public record now?

I know what it is, it's all over the discussions. So why aren't the newsies using it?

Channel 3000's story names him...

The worker, building manager Ron Blair, had no comment on the incident to WISC-TV.

One less job, and more example of union thugs destroying the economy.
