I stand with the Bad River Chippewa

Postby oemoc00 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 7:29 am

I Stand with the Bad River Chippewa
The Everglades of the North are a native land
The rice sloughs glow like jewels in a mist
Miles of waterways, eagles, sturgeons, orchids so grand
People seem to float on clouds as they fish
And yet there are those who would starve the earth
But I say no, I stand with the Bad River Chippewa
To mine this land is to dance with insanity
As the Hills of Penokee are stripped away and the waters
Are filled with acid rain and man’s vanity
Lost forever will be this land’s spirit father
But I say no, I stand with the Bad River Chippewa
Called environmental radicals the Chippewa
Are God’s stewards of the land
To preserve this sacred treasure
Should we not all take a stand , and say
Yes I stand with the Bad River Chippewa

I wrote this over a year ago. As we are thinking about the mining bill today, let us remember not to give up. Our children do not need this legacy of strip mining in Wisconsin, the Penokee hills are too beautiful.
