The Second Funniest Movie Ever Made

Postby Huckleby » Thu Oct 24, 2013 5:45 pm

The funniest movie ever made is "The Inlaws" with Alan Arkin & Peter Falk.

What do you nominate for runner up?

I haven't yet seen The Inlaws, but I'm very fond of Young Frankenstein.

That movie is damn funny if you are in a silly mood. Funny movies are like sex, mood is everything.

BTW, "Inlaws" is showing on Sundance channel. I just saw it, which probably why it soared to #1. "A Fish Called Wanda" is up there. I first saw it at a free screening at the large Memorial Union theater with a couple thousand people. Funniest time I ever had at a movie.

If only Little Bush had seen this before the Cheney ate his unknowing heart. Jamie would have set him on the righteous path.

The Villian AKA Cactus Jack with Kirk Douglas, Arnold Schwarzenegger has to be near the top.

I'd consider that the best MOVIE not just best comedy. Anyone sen Brain Donors with John Turturo? It's pretty cheesy but the Opera seen at the end might be one of the funniest things on film.

There is no such thing as a bad movie with John Turturo in it. I will have to check that one out.

Lovers of "The Big Lebowski" probably also saw "Barton Fink", an even darker comedy by the Coen brothers with John Goodman and John Turturo. Both great movies.

A John Turturo comedy that I like is "Box of Moon Light." Turturo is screamingly funny in an Alan Arkin sorta role.

"Werewolf?"
"There! Wolf!"

With Curse of the Werewolf at Cinematheque last week that joke got stuck in my head like a peppy jingle. In the end I didn't go. Which was probably just as well -- it would have been hard not to snicker.

I am a big sucker for both John Candy and Steve Martin, both those are great. I thought "Uncle Buck" was hilarious. "Dirty Rotten Scoundrals" "Bowfinger" is a sleeper.

I remember that for great cast and acting more than laugh-out-loud. But after about 10 years I remember very little, so time to try again.
