Japanese company buys Jim Beam.

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it fits here

Japanese company buys Jim Beam.

Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, and all products made by Beam Inc are now owned by Suntory.

It's still made in the good ol USA. For now.

Suntory rules the booze world, apparently.
Its combined portfolio of leading brands will include Beam’s Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark and Knob Creek bourbons, Teacher’s and Laphroaig Scotch whiskies, Canadian Club whisky, Courvoisier cognac, Sauza tequila, and Pinnacle vodka, and Suntory’s leading Japanese whiskies Yamazaki, Hakushu, Hibiki, and Kakubin, Bowmore Scotch whisky and Midori liqueur.

What Diageo doesn't own, it sure seems Suntory does -- but the US market is a big development.

“Suntory has virtually no U.S. presence,” Mark Swartzberg, an analyst at Stifel Financial Corp. in New York, said in a research note today. “This will take their share from less than 1 percent to 11 percent.”

SABMiller's still got plenty of skin in the beverage game, too.

By the by, Suntory subisdiary Yamazaki 12 year is delicious, if you're into mellow single malts. Very citrusy.
I've never had it, but I like to imagine that the 18 year tastes like distilled lemons & gold.

For quiet, relaxing times, make it Suntory Time.
