Like us all, Mayor Dave Cieslewicz has gotta eat. And this week's schedule displays just how fun it must be, at times, to take a mayoral lunch break. Monday he dines with Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, a traditional ally with whom he has clashed in recent months, as well as Neil Heinen and George Nelson of Channel 3/Madison Magazine fame. The location has not been disclosed, but the guess here is that this quartet will not be eating sloppy joes in the basement of the City-County Building.
Tuesday brings something called "Food-a-Rama" at Temple Beth El. The event is described as "a tradition that serves as a microcosm in showing how important food is to the Jewish people and how food is also a very significant part of Jewish traditions themselves." Proceeds from the event will fund YWCA's Third Street Program, Hospice and Interfaith Hospitality Network, among other organizations.
On Wednesday, the mayor will line up with other downtown muckety-mucks at Downtown Madison, Inc.'s luncheon at the Madison Club. Might Halloween festivities be a topic of discussion? On Thursday, Fire Station #1 hosts the mid-day meal. Now, if you've ever seen our city's fire fighters doing their shopping at Woodman's, you'll have some idea what's in store for the mayor on this day. Two words: expect meat.
