Allied Drive up, Donna Katen-Bahensky down

UP: Allied Drive. In 2006, the state revoked the license of Small Wonders preschool, citing repeated failures to adequately supervise children. But now the center, one of the few child-care options in the Allied Drive neighborhood, is reopening under new ownership. Its name, appropriately enough, is New Beginnings.

DOWN: Donna Katen-Bahensky. The new CEO of UW Hospitals and Clinics gets some unwanted attention for having left her last job under a cloud. Katen-Bahensky's attorney sent a letter to her former employers at the University of Iowa Hospitals asking for damages because her contract was not renewed. Katen-Bahensky says she was not fired from Iowa, but left willingly during a reorganization.
