Overture Center up, Kathleen Falk down

UP: Overture Center. The $210 million arts facility is named one of 10 developments nationwide to win an award for excellence from the Urban Land Institute. The group lauds the facility as a "model for arts districts everywhere." Say, does this honor come with a cash award? Enough to make up for a failing stock market and avoid a taxpayer bailout?

DOWN: Kathleen Falk. Talk about living in a world of one's own imagining. On WISC-TV's "For the Record," the Dane County exec offered this assurance regarding the county's 911 Call Center: "No one has suggested we are inadequately staffed." The show taped on Friday afternoon, the day after Isthmus ran a report quoting three former center employees, all on the record, in an article headlined "Short-Staffed Almost Always."
