Charter Communications up, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce down

UP: Charter Communications. The cable company finally strikes a deal with the Big Ten Network to carry its programming. Charter may begin broadcasting the network as soon as Saturday, just in time for the UW Badgers game against Akron. Details of the deal are still being worked out.

DOWN: Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce. The business lobby is skewered by outgoing UW Chancellor John Wiley in an article in Madison Magazine. Wiley says WMC undermined support for the UW in the Legislature for partisan reasons, and in turn prevented the state's economic progress. The business community, scolds Wiley, "has been taken hostage by partisan ideologues."
