On the Agenda: A new movie theater, a zoo tour and diversity in hiring

Dane County Board of Public Works
Tuesday, Sept. 23, 5:15 p.m.
Zoo Administration Building, 702 South Randall Ave.

There's nothing on the regular agenda of much note, but hey, after the meeting the board gets a tour of the Henry Vilas Zoo! Sometimes there are perks to public service.

Affirmative Action Commission
Tuesday, Sept. 23, 5 p.m.
Room LL-120, Madison Municipal Building

The commission reviews recruitment strategies to improve diversity in the city of Madison's hiring, as well as ways to diversify the city's committees, commissions and boards.

Urban Design Commission
Wednesday, Sept. 24, 4:30 p.m.
Room LL-110, Madison Municipal Building

The Marcus Corporation submits its plans for a new development on the east side near High Crossing Boulevard. Grand Crossing, as it's called, would include a larger movie theatre, retail development, and lots and lots of parking. The commission also considers updates to the Villager development plan and the Urban League's new building.
