The Cunningham Group will update the commission on the city's zoning code rewrite. The commission will also accept a report on a proposed Public Market on the corner of East Washington Avenue and Butler Street. The market would include a mix of retail shops, restaurants and stands operated by local farmers and artists. But don't get too excited: The city has already decided not to give the market any funding for 2009.
Informational Meeting on the Budget

Many alders hold meetings on the Madison's 2009 budget in their districts, but anyone in the city can attend. Ald. Paul Skidmore takes his turn, with a meeting on the far west side.
Referendum Information Session

Wright Middle School
The Madison school board holds another public hearing and info session on its proposed referendum to exceed spending caps and increase taxes. The school district wants to raise $13 million over the next three years to avoid further budget cuts. The referendum will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot.
