The Business Forum, a women's business organization in Madison, awarded the ATHENA Young Professional award Wednesday night to Shawna Carter, Associate Dean of the Arts & Sciences Center at Madison Area Technical College. A crowd of 176 attended a reception at Madison's Inn on the Park to celebrate the award as well as the 20th anniversary of The Business Forum.

The program was launched by ATHENA International in 2007. The Business Forum is one of the first organizations to sponsor a local award. This program aligns with The Business Forum's mission and successful involvement with the ATHENA Award Program.

  • The individual clearly serves as a role model for young women, personally and professionally.

  • The individual provides valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community.
