Middleton's Home Talent League baseball team plays its home games at Sorenson/Bakken Field on Mendota Avenue, just north of University. If you get there early enough for a Sunday afternoon game, you can plop your lawn chair on the hill overlooking the third-base line, under a canopy of leafy trees.
While the play on the field isn't major (or even minor) league, it's a luxury-box view, and the games are fun. You can hear the often-colorful chatter on the field, and freshly grilled brats are close at hand. Admission is free.
Home Talent games pitting town against town are played every Sunday afternoon all over Dane County. Check the schedule and standings, as well as directions to fields, at to save $3.
And the Madison Mustangs are once again ripping up the Ironman Football League, jumping out to a 3-0 record. They finish the season with four straight Saturday evening games, starting on July 18, at Middleton High School's stadium. Tickets are just $6.
