Baseball, perhaps more than any other sport, encourages fans to become obsessed with the game's lore, statistics, history and mythology. Craig Robinson, an English artist in Bellingham, Wash., has combined all those aspects in the wonderfully distracting Isthmus. "I kind of got to imagining them as a baseball team, so they needed an opponent. I spent a very enjoyable afternoon working out the defensive positions, batting order and play-by-play."
Even the banner image at the top of Robinson's site is worth a second look, its pixelated images representing noteworthy players and totems, with healthy representation from the Brewers.
"Robin Yount is in there because a) he was awesome, and b) I was looking for someone distinctive to draw at shortstop," writes Robinson. "The sausage race is there because I wanted something silly, and the sausage race seems to be the best at being silly."
And baseball is definitely the place for a sausage race.
