Raw milk up, Warner Park geese down

UP: Raw milk. Gov. Jim Doyle "assumes" he'll sign into law a bill legalizing limited sales of raw milk. But he won't get the chance to sign bills for other initiatives - including a proposal to require that 25% of Wisconsin's electric power come from clean sources. These remained stalled as the current legislative session came to a close so lawmakers can focus on running for reelection this fall. First things first.

DOWN: Warner Park geese. The Madison Park Commission quietly approved a plan to kill 80 to 100 Canada geese in June at Warner Park to keep them from flying into airplanes. And park officials plan to kill goose embryos in their eggs, beginning this week. But the geese are not without allies: Critics who say the threat to planes is overblown have formed a Facebook page to rally support for the condemned birds.
