Ivan the dog up, felons down

UP: Ivan the dog. The Wisconsin State Journal reports that the Madison Police Department's K9 dog Ivan survived a near-fatal infection and pneumonia after partner Henry Wilson noticed he wasn't feeling well and got him prompt medical attention. "We actually thought we were going to lose him," says Sgt. Chris Boyd, who heads the K9 unit.

DOWN: Felons. Republicans introduce a bill that would allow employers to fire or refuse to employ anyone convicted of a felony. Madison's Social Action Connection points out that a prime indicator of success after prison is the ability to keep and hold a job. Do Republicans not want felons to find a new line of work?
